Scanning images into DjVu Solo

In addition to opening existing graphics files to encode into the DjVu format, you can scan images into a DjVu Solo document and create the original file in the DjVu format.

NOTE  The following procedure assumes your scanner is connected to your computer, and the corresponding software is configured to work properly with Windows applications.

To scan an image into DjVu Solo:

  1. Place the image you want to scan in the scanner bed or sheet feeder.

  2. In DjVu Solo, choose Select Source from the File menu, select the scanner, and then click Select.

  3. From the File menu, choose Acquire to start the scanner software.

  4. Scan your document.

DjVu Solo processes the image and then displays it.

  5. To encode the image in DjVu format, choose File > Save As, choose a name and location for the file, and click Save.

NOTE  Based on testing of images of various resolutions, we recommend that you scan images at 300 dpi to produce encoded DjVu images with reliable clarity.

If you perform a large number of scans using default scanner settings, you can use the Quick Load command to bypass your scanner software for fast scanning.

To scan an image by bypassing the scanner software:

  1. From the File menu, choose Quick Load to check the command.

  2. Follow steps 1–5 in the procedure above.
